Working at 3 months

So, Thursday I went back to work for the first time since he was born. It was hard leaving the house, but I was more ok with it, because Andy was on Spring Break so he stayed home with Jordan and I got to see them at lunch. That made it much easier. Helped me focus on just getting back in the swing of things at work and trying to catch up on things. And, oh man, is there a ton to catch up on, too! Sounded like Andy and Jordan had a good time hanging out together, just the boys, which made me smile. I can't believe I'm about to say this, especially because I am usually the more organized of the two of us, but Andy actually got more things done around the house in 2 days than I got done in 3 months of maternity leave! Go hubby! That was a nice surprise. :)

Yesterday (Saturday), the three of us went to review the proofs from Jordan's 3-month photos. They turned out so well! It was really hard to narrow them down to the few that we like the absolute best. As soon as our photographer, Beth, posts them online, we'll let everyone know so you can browse and if you so choose, select to purchase. They really did come out fantastic. But of course, I'm his mommy so of course I think they are awesome!

Andy and I also took Jordan to Freedom Park for a walk yesterday. It was such a nice day, we just wanted to enjoy the warmth and sunshine for a bit. I'd never been there, so it was a nice change of scenery, and I really enjoyed seeing that part of Atlanta. It really is a beautiful area.


Today our little munchkin turned 3 months old. I can hardly believe it! It doesn't seem like it's been 13 weeks since I last had him in my tummy. He's changed and grown so much in the last three months, and his personality is just blossoming. Everyday we get such joy just from watching him sleep, gift us with the biggest gummy smiles, coo and laugh and just be a happy little baby. And of course, to celebrate the occasion, we had to take the monthly photos...


Tomorrow (Monday) will be Jordan's first day of daycare. It has been eating away at me for a couple weeks now, with increasing distress and heaviness in my heart that I cannot stay home with him. My biggest fear (silly, I know) is that he will hit major milestones while at daycare instead of with me or Andy. Like getting his first tooth. His first venture into crawling. His first steps. His first word. Fortunately, Andy will be home with him during the summer, but it just isn't the same as having one of us with him everyday. We know his moods and routine, and it breaks my heart to think that pretty soon, the daycare staff will know his moods and routine and personality better than we will, since he will be basically coming home to eat and go to bed every night. It just makes me sick to my stomach. I don't know that I'll ever get used to someone else caring for my child. I know they are professionals, who know what they are doing, but it just isn't Mommy or Daddy. It's not the same. It is completely eating away at my heart. I just thank my lucky stars that Andy will be able to go with me tomorrow when I drop Jordan off at daycare, because otherwise, I don't think I would be able to leave him there and make it to work. I honestly think it is going to be the most heartbreaking day of my life so far.

Jordan's First Spring Break Trip (Part 2)

On Monday morning we hopped in the car and made our way up to Sebring so Jordan could see his Lito and Lita for the first time since he was less than a month old. He was also going to meet his great-grandparents on Nez's side. Once we arrived in Sebring, it did not take long for Jordan's bisabuelita y bisabuelito to show up at Manny and Anin's house to see their great-grandson! They couldn't have been more excited.





Jordan thoroughly enjoyed spending time with Lito and Lita at their house and letting them feed him and play with him. We suspect they enjoyed it even more than he did.



The trip to Sebring wasn't strictly for visiting. Jordan was still able to find time to get out and catch some rays in the Bjorn with Mommy. (We won't mention that this is just in the Wal-Mart parking lot.)



We couldn't head back to Fort Lauderdale without visiting bisabuelito y bisabuelita at their home. Jordan tried to sleep through that visit but did end up waking up before we left.



All in all, Jordan had a great first trip to Florida. He met a lot of family members who had been anxiously awaiting his arrival, and he did great on the drives between Fort Lauderdale and Sebring and on BOTH flights (even with a two hour delay on the way back to Atlanta!)

Jordan's First Spring Break Trip (Part 1)

For our "end of Nez's maternity/Andy's spring break" trip, we decided to take Jordan down to Florida to meet some family and friends who have not met him yet. Jordan did great on his first airplane trip and did not cry a single time the whole flight. He must have enjoyed the upgrade to Business Class.



Jordan was able to spend Saturday and Sunday in sunny South Florida with Grandma and Grandpa Crosby and their crazy pups. Although as soon as he put his sunglasses on, the daily afternoon showers rolled in.





On Sunday afternoon, Jordan got to meet his cousin Marta, who also lives in South Florida.



Later that evening, Jordan met several new family members. When we visited the Banta house, Jordan decided catching some "z"s was the most important thing.



He did decide to wake up for Great-Grandmom Leona, Nenie, and Lexi.





Part 2 of Jordan's first spring break trip to Florida will be Monday and Tuesday when we make the drive up to Sebring to see Lito and Lita again. Jordan will also be meeting his anxiously awaiting bisabuelito and bisabuelita there on Monday.

11 Weeks Already?!

Well, the time sure does fly by! It's been two months since we last posted anything. For the first time we were able to spend Christmas in Atlanta at our house with our families coming to see us. Nez was back in the hospital for a few days a second time, but was discharged on December 23 and is now feeling great!



Andy had originally planned to take off the first week of school after Christmas break to stay home. We really lucked out with the fact that the Sunday night before he was going to go back, Atlanta was covered with snow and ice. He was able to spend an extra week at home with Nez and Jordan without taking time off of work because Galloway ended up closing for all 5 days!


That doesn't exactly bring us up to date, since we should have posted that over a month ago. Since then, Jordan has been to the doctor for his one and two month checkups and has had his shots. He's growing like crazy; 7 lbs at birth, 10 lbs at 1-month, and he's now at about 14 lbs at almost 11 weeks.

He's getting much closer to sleeping through the night now, usually waking up once to eat and then goes right back to sleep. Jordan is also becoming much more responsive to us. A month or so ago he was smiling on his own, but now he's smiling as a reaction to touch.

Last weekend Jordan made his first visit to the Georgia Aquarium. He loved seeing his cousin Amelia and all the fishies at the aquarium.

After the aquarium we took Jordan for a short walk through Centennial Park for some good photo ops. We also discovered the perk to having to park on the 12th and top floor of the parking deck downtown...great view of the city!


I'm going to wrap this up with the promise that we are going to be better about updating the blog more frequently. We are off to the photographer for his 1st set of pics.

Shortly after birth, Jordan was already all over Facebook, thanks to his two aunts, Lindy and Rayne, who were very bored in the surgical waiting room for several hours in anticipation of Jordan's arrival. It's a Boy!!

On Monday December 13th at 8:36PM Jordan Andrew Crosby officially made his first appearance as the newest member of our family. He weighed in at exactly 7 pounds and was 20 1/4 inches long.

Nez had a scheduled doctor's appointment in the morning and they found that her fluid was pretty low. Since she was already full term, they decided that they would be cautious and go ahead and send her to the hospital to have him by scheduled c-section. She called the school to tell Andy what was going on, so he got the lesson plans ready for his sub and headed over to the hospital for the 7:30 appointment. At 8:36, the doctor said, "Ok dad, stand up; get your camera ready!" And there he was...

1 month to go!

So, the last week has been a busy one for us all. On Nov. 20, we traded in Andy's 2-door Altima coupe and got a more practical family vehicle...a new Nissan Rogue! Very nice and roomy SUV so our munchkin will have more room and we'll have more space for all his accessories as well...LOL!

On the same day, Andy's sister, Lindy, and her longtime sweetie, Ross, got ENGAGED!!! So exciting for both families! Nez was jumping out of her chair all day long she was so excited! Wedding plans are in the works now, people!

On November 24 (day before Thanksgiving), we went back to the OB for another ultrasound to check fluid levels. Andy's parents were in town for Thanksgiving so they were able to join us and see Jordan on the ultrasound for the first time. It was very exciting, although the only person who knew what he/she was looking at was the ultrasound tech! Fluid levels shot up for this visit, and are well in the normal range now. The OB cleared Nez to resume all normal activities, so she can do all her normal stuff at work and at home!

The only thing now is that Jordan is still breech, with his tushy down instead of his head, so we have another ultrasound at our next appointment on Dec 6 to see if he is still in the same position. If so, then we will consider our options, such as possibly scheduling a cesarean for the week between Christmas and New Years. So, still waiting to see what our little munchkin has in store for us this holiday season.

Thanksgiving was really nice, though Nez missed her family. Andy & Lindy's parents were here and so was Ross' family, so it was still an exciting and large family holiday. It was great to have both families together, to celebrate the holiday and the new engagement. There were lots of good food, good fun and good games to be had.

As of today, we are exactly one month from our due date, so not too much longer to wait! For now, waiting to see what next week has in store for us at the doctor's appointment. Will be sure to post as we learn more about our little man.
