Trying out some new looks

Jordan had a couple of new looks to try out during his 9th month. Aunt Lindy was about to become Aunt Lindy Shoemaker on October 8th, so Jordan tried on his tux for the wedding. Luckily the pants could be hemmed...they're a tad long!

A couple weeks later Jordan will celebrate his first Halloween. How fitting that our little monkey is going as a little monkey.

Movin' On Up!

Jordan is constantly growing and changing on a daily basis. We can't believe how much he's grown already in the last 8 months. He's now 22.5 lbs, and 30 1/4" long! He has grown 10" just since he was born! He's eating baby food like a champ and has moved to the 3rd stage foods (though he still hates anything with chunks and wants nothing to do with table food). He is finally crawling -- like, real crawling, with his belly off the floor -- and has now started to pull himself up to standing. At first, he did it while holding on to me when he was on the changing table. Last Sunday, he got up all by himself while he was playing in his pack 'n play in the front yard. I, of course, got about a hundred pictures of him standing there, gnawing on the edge of the thing. He was so proud of himself and so were we! Now, he's pulling up on his toys and on us all the time. God help us, now we are constantly terrified he'll fall and crack his skull on the ground! LOL! Times are changing! I imagine he'll be walking within the next few months!

Little Fishy

Today Jordan started his first swim class at the Y. There were 4 babies in all (3 boys and 1 girl) and it was so cute! The class is meant for 6-24 month olds and it's mostly to get them used to the water. I had to work afterwards, so I just went to take pictures while Andy went in the water with him. Next weekend when Andy is out of town, I'll get the honors. It seemed like Jordan had a lot of fun with daddy in the water. They sang a lot of songs, and bounced up and down, but I think Jordan was more interested in munching on his fingers and watching the bigger kids in the class next to them.

Here are some photos from the class:

8 months old

Jordan celebrated his 8 month birthday yesterday by going to his first Ultimate tournament for a little while. He's crawling all over the house, starting to pull himself up (on to the ottoman as I type this) on to his knees. He's starting to get a little more sensitive to strangers although he still pretty much likes everybody he meets. Next weekend we are taking him to his first swim class at the Y.

We have been a bit slack on posting and have so many great pictures of Jordan, we thought we'd post a few 7-month photos here for your viewing pleasure. He loves to munch on his bibs, smile a ton so he can flash his new pearly whites (he's only got 2 so far) and flirt with the camera.

This last one is one of our favorites. Jordan had just woken up from a nap and had bedhead AND his shirt was completely soaked from drooling! LOL! Too funny! We do have to change his shirt every time he wakes up because he's slobbered all over it. We can't wait for the slobber phase to wear off.

And of course daddy loves playing with Jordan's hair in the tub...lol! MOHAWK!!!

7-Month Birthday

As we post this, Jordan is already a week away from the 8-month mark. Unbelievable! Anyway, once again, better late than never. Jordan's 7-month birthday is extra special because he shared it with his daddy. Andy turned 31 on July 13th as Jordan turned seven months. In the afternoon, Andy, Nez and Jordan visited The World of Coke for the first time. Well Andy and Nez had been to the old one years ago, but not the new location. So it was a first time for everyone.

After the World of Coke, we had birthday dinner back at the house with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Lindy, and Uncle Ross. Andy and Jordan blew out the candles together, well Andy blew the out while Jordan grabbed a fist-full of icing.

It definitely couldn't have been a better birthday!

Road Trip to Tampa

The weekend before the 4th of July, we took Jordan on his first actual road trip. We decided to make the 7-hour drive down I-75 to Tampa to visit Nez's grandmother in the hospital. Rayne, Eric, and Amelia also made the trip to Tampa that weekend so Jordan got to see his cousin again! (Well, not in this pic, he's sleeping.)

Being that this was our first road trip with Jordan, we decided not to overpack.

We got a great deal at a really nice hotel that was actually on the campus of USF where Nez went to grad school. The best part was that there was a pool, and we actually remembered to pack for it. So we took Jordan in a real pool for the first time. Lito came to watch and take pictures for us.

Once we got the munchkin all lathered up with sunblock, we were ready to hit the pool. He had a blast and wasn't scared of the water at all.

We also decided to head to downtown Tampa to visit the Children's Museum. There was a ton of cool stuff there and Jordan will enjoy it more when he's a little bit older, but he still had a good time. His favorite part was probably playing in the "sand" which wasn't really sand. It was extremely small chunks of rubber. So it felt like sand but didn't stick to you and get in your shoes. It was awesome!

We're so glad we got a chance to take him down there to see his grandparents and great-grandparents and have some fun too!

Six Months Old In 12-Month Clothes

Well, Jordan turned six months old last week. We took him to the doctor for his six-month visit. He's doing great and falls into very high percentiles in all the categories (head size, weight, and height). Actually he's off the charts in height (99th percentile), which makes perfect sense with a mom who is 5'3" and a dad who says he's 5'10" (all guys round their height up to the next inch). Maybe we each have some long lost relatives who are tall or something. Anyway, here's what else has happened since our last blog post...

Nez's 1st Mother's Day / Jordan's Baptism
On Mother's Day, Jordan was baptized at our church, Chamblee First United Methodist, with many family members and friends in attendance. He was all decked out in his white tux and behaved like a champ throughout the ceremony.

Jordan's First Time in the Baby Pool
We bought a cheap baby pool so we could let Jordan try it out on the back deck. Since he loves splashing water in the bath tub so much, we figured he'd like it. He didn't know quite what to make of it at first but just as we suspected he LOVED it!

Our 2-year Wedding Anniversary
On June 7th, Nez and Andy celebrated their 2nd wedding anniversary. Andy's gift to Nez was in the form of his first attempt at using iMovie. The movie/slideshow features pictures and videos of Jordan's first 6 months. Luckily, we had plenty of Kleenex on hand for Nez's first viewing.

Engagement Party for Aunt Lindy and Uncle Ross
Lindy and Ross had their engagement party on June 11. Grandma and Grandpa Crosby were here for the party and of course to see their grandson.

Since Heather threw the party, she was here with Stan, Lucas and Carson. Jordan got to spend some time having fun with his older cousins.

Jordan's First Braves Game
Nez, Andy, Jordan, Lindy and Ross headed down to Turner Field to see the Braves take on the Reds. He only slept through part of the game...there was just too much to look at to sleep through very much. The Braves are currently undefeated with Jordan in attendance (1-0).

Andy's 1st Father's Day
We don't have pictures to post from Father's Day, but this was a Father's Day that Andy will never forget. Just being able to spend the day with our little munchkin made it a perfect day!

For Grandma Mikki...
When Grandma Mikki was here for the engagement party, she asked for a specific picture. She wanted a picture with Jordan on this blanket. This was a blanket she made for Andy 30-ish years ago and also made a carseat cover out of the same fabric. Here's Jordan sitting on it in his Bumbo.

Summer Vacation
Since Andy is a teacher and has the summer off, he and Jordan will be spending LOTS of time together. Jordan doesn't have to go back to daycare until Andy is back in school and this daycare doesn't charge you to hold a spot (woohoo!!). Currently, Nez is in New Orleans at a conference, the it's just the boys at home this weekend (and Ali). We're looking forward to seeing Lito and Lita next weekend as we travel to Troy, AL for the big 10-year Charles Henderson HS Reunion for Nez. Grandma and Grandpa Crosby are planning to visit a couple weeks later around Andy's birthday to spend some time with the munchkin. Jordan is very excited to see all his grandparents in the next few weeks, as we know they are as well.
